Thank you for inspiring me to become a teacher after viewing Meeting of Minds when I was 16. I loved your rendition of Cleopatra and Antoinette. I've been teaching English/history for 20 years now and always remember your late husband's words..."...having our prejudices nicely lined up in our minds is the same as thinking...which of course, it's not." This quote (albeit paraphrased!) is one I always remember before every lesson I prepare for my students. Thank you both.

Hi, as an airline manager my Dad had the pleasure of meeting Steve and Jayne at LAX. After ushering countless personalities to 'the Crown Room' and never mentioning anything about it, he came home one night very impressed by approachability, authenticity, and down-to-earth humor, of the bubbly, attractive couple. I loved my Dad, and any detail about him keeps him ever close to my heart, and thus strong for this world. Thanks for this great website, and the great photos of Jayne. Jayne, if by some chance you read this, thanks for stopping and visiting with my Dad. You and Mr. Allen made him very happy. God Bless. Mike, Nashville, TN.

Thank you for your appearance on "The Larry King Show" on January, 2, 2004. I agree with Carl Reiner, there should be a tribute to your husband every year, he was such a great talent. He helped shape my sense of humor as I was growing up. I had the great pleasure of meeting both of you at the Chapters Bookstore here in Orlando, Florida several years ago. It is something I will never forget. Walter Carl Case, Orlando, Florida.

Dear Ms. Meadows, My name is Kevin Good and was on your husband's show on July 11th, 1963 at Hollywood and Vine. I was picked from the audience because I asked Mr. Allen "Where is the nearest fern doctor?" I was chosen to be the emcee that evening to announce the guest stars, "Allan Sherman, Jackie Vernon and Frankie Avalon." That was the night Mr. Allen was lifted into the pool to make iced tea/lemonade. I was awarded a Polaroid camera and given $1.00 for my services. I was watching Larry King Live and he showed a video clip of Mr. Allen being dunked into that pool. I was wondering if I could receive a copy of the show that night. It would be most greatly appreciated. Would you please contact me @ bueno1@mchsi.com and let me know if this is at all possible. Sincerely, Kevin C. Good p.s. my mom knew Mr. Allen from the Southwest side of Chicago.

Hello Ms. Meadows, I was at the Judy Garland Festival in Grand Rapids, MN this last weekend & attended the closing night dinner when you spoke. I wasn't able to speak with you as there was such a crowd but just wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed your work. I loved the TV show "High Society" when you were on it along with Jean Smart & Mary McDonnell - such a classy, sophisticated comedy. I've watched you on TV most of my life, especially with your late & beloved husband Steve Allen, and I must tell you that I've always gotten a kick out of the way you laugh. I don't know why, but your laugh has always struck me as very cute & clever. I don't know if you would consider coming back to the Judy-fest next year, but I sincerely hope you do. Thanks for entertaining so many of us for so many years. Regards, Kevin Young Sheffield, Iowa ehsmith@frontiernet.net

Dear Jane, Good evening, my name is Joshua Lane. I was a friend of Dayton Allen and his wife Elvi (and Daytons mom Helen) when they lived in Hollywood, Florida. Dayton, Elvi and I once visited your husband in Coral Gables after he had given a presentation at one of the local hospitals. It was the only time in the 15 or so years that I knew Dayton that he, Dayton, was respectful of anybody. He was very clear in his conversations with me as to your husband’s talent, wit and intelligence. Now that Dayton has passed, and I am unable to contact Elvi, (her last phone number is in Hendersonville N.C.)I thought that I would tell you of my meeting with Steve Allen. Dayton and Steve and Elvi were busy talking and I was happy to be there. Steve wasn't feeling great, he told us that he was sleeping 11 hours a day, but he seemed pleased that Dayton had made the effort to see him. Steve's voice was as clear as on radio or T.V. and he spoke about a variety of things, old friends, health care issues, a little bit of catching up. That's the whole story, just thought you would like to know. Best Wishes, Joshua Lane joshualane@cox.net

We never met, but we have something in common. Our husbands died on the same day. As the fifth anniversary of that sad day approaches, please visualize a scene that gives me comfort. Site: Heaven Steve Allen is giving the best performance of his life. My husband (Tom) is his audience of one. Mr. Allen senses that his performance is a great one and is enjoying giving it. Tom is laughing non-stop. What does any performer want more than anything but an appreciative audience? What does any fan want but a great performance by his favorite comedian? They are both very happy for all eternity. What more can their widows want? I will remember forever how much my husband loved to watch your husband. It gives me comfort to think that they may be enjoying each other's company even now. Love Carol

THE PRODUCERS THOUGHT THAT THAT WAS A LITTLE TOO VULGAR AND ASKED IF I COULD SAY THAT I WAS A WEINER STUFFER (I PERSONALLY THOUGHT THAT WAS MORE VULGAR) INSTEAD. I INFORMED THEM THAT MY COUSIN WAS A WEINER STUFFER. Love the sight. Just saw Jayne in "Undercurrent". She has a fabulous scene in her apartment with Katharine Hepburn. She whipped Hepburn off the screen. She should have been nominated for an Oscar for "Enchantment". What class she brought to a film like "Dark Delusion" (last month on TCM). And great in the Thin Man film and "Lady in the Lake". What happened at MGM - too similar to Angela Lansbury? They could have interchanged parts. I can just see her in "State of the Union". Never missed Jayne on "I've Got a Secret". A big fan.

I am a young fan (29 yrs old, maybe not that young) who LOVES watching old movies. I really enjoy the movies you were in. I also have an old album that I got when I was a kid with a song called "Dear Ralph" that you sang with your sister. I got it at a Honeymooners convention when I was 8 years old. Your sister was definitely hysterical on that show! I bought the DVD set for my husband last Christmas. Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone reads these messages, or responds to them, but I wish I could meet you at a lecture or a performance. I think it would be a nice update to the website if you could add a calendar of events or appearances, if you have any. Just being a little hopeful!

If you could offer any suggestions on where to get started or where a fellow should go to get the ball rolling for himself, I'd love you forever! The first film I ever saw you in was "Song of the Thin Man," and I kept thinking to myself, "...what a BEAUTIFUL woman!" Well, Jayne, you're STILL beautiful, and I want to thank you so much for sharing your talent with us over the years.
